The Jefferson County Boys Basketball Tournament (exerts from al.com)

Clay-Chalkville 68, Hueytown 56: Clay-Chalkville guard Robert Parker scored 11 of his 19 points in the first half as the Cougars (11-12) built a 43-27 halftime lead.

Clay-Chalkville extended the lead to 60-37 by the end of the third quarter, but Hueytown began the final period on a 17-2 run, which was capped by a Kevin Moore layup, to cut the lead to eight points with 1:14 remaining. The Cougars closed the game by hitting eight free throws in the final minute.

Shades Valley 65, Clay-Chalkville 52: Clay-Chalkville seemed to throw every imaginable defense at Shades Valley, but the Mounties (16-5) had an answer for all of them.

"We moved the ball well, did the things we needed to do," said Shades Valley coach Mike Burrus.

Christian Watford led a balanced scoring attack with 15 points for the Mounties. Van Phillips added 12 and Jamal Fields scored 10 as Burrus rested his starters for most of the fourth quarter.

Robert Parker led Clay-Chalkville (11-12) with 10 points. Clay-Chalkville faces the winner of Minor-McAdory in the consolation bracket Thursday.

Clay-Chalkville 83, Minor 79: The Cougars whittled away at a 14-point first-quarter deficit and used 12-of-15 free-throw shooting in the fourth quarter to come away with the win. Minor's Xavier Baldwin led all scorers with 35 points, while Chris Richardson had 11 for the Tigers (13-8). Chris Goodman led Clay (12-11) with 17 points, while Dedrick Heath and Matt Cody had 14 each
